I: This Black Universe
NEGATIVE:
We’re searching through, scanning every star
No candidates can we find at all
If there’s no guarantee, will all of this be in vain?
POSITIVE:
I hope I’m right in my hypothesis
There’s got to be something more, or something we’ve missed
Our Earth must have a match, there must be somewhere that’s the same
NEGATIVE:
We scan the darkness of this black Universe
But is there nowhere we can go?
Is there a place out there to accommodate us?
Is there a world out there to call our home?
Are we alone?
NEGATIVE:
Just give up now, for there’s no-one there
Throw in the towel, we are all that’s left
We’re never going to win, because there nothing there to gain
We scan the darkness of this black Universe
But is there nowhere we can go?
Is there a place out there to accommodate us?
Is there a world out there to call our home?
Are we alone?
II: Faster-Than-Light
POSITIVE:
I see a planet that ticks every box
It fills every criterion
Covered in water, has an atmosphere
The perfect distance from its Sun
NEGATIVE:
There may be life and they might be hostile;
We can’t be certain what they’ll say
But it’ll take too long to reach our signal,
They’re a thousand lightyears away
THE ROGUE:
Take my hand, I’ve found a way
To lead us from this darkness
Bending space to end our plight
And send our S.O.S. faster than light
I know it’s hard to comprehend:
Our science presents a problem
But I have worked throughout the night
To send our S.O.S. faster than light
NEGATIVE:
I say you’re crazy,that it can’t be done;
It’s the knowledge that we lack
POSITIVE:
But we have broken the rules before,
So what’s holding us back?
THE ROGUE:
I have read of a strange form of matter
That can carry our signal
We cannot sit here and wallow in pity
With something this beneficial
Take my hand, I’ve found a way
To lead us from this darkness
Bending space to end our plight
And send our S.O.S. faster than light
Let’s take control of our fate
And transmit to reaches farthest
No turning back, the star’s in sight
Let’s send our S.O.S. faster than light!
III: Transmission
[Instrumental]
IV: Re:Transmission
NEGATIVE:
It’s been several days now
And we’ve heard nothing back
I hate to say I told you so
But we have to face the facts
Are we really all that there is…
Or maybe is there something we’ve missed?
FOLÚP’:
Hello, can you hear us?
We have heard your call
We hear you’re seeking sanctuary
In the aftermath of war
It’s decided, here you can stay
For we’ve also learned from our mistakes
We too are scarred by revolution
And we too seek retribution
There is a reason we fell,
But that’s another story to tell..
V: A World Out There
POSITIVE:
A light emerges from this black Universe
A shining beacon of hope
There is a world out there to accommodate us
A place to live and thrive and call our home!
